"When the alien Mimics invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many recruits shoved into a suit of battle armor called a Jacket and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to be reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On his fifth iteration, he gets a message from a mysterious ally—the female soldier known as the Full Metal Bitch. Is she the key to Keiji's escape or his final death?"
All You Need Is Kill is a 2 volume sci-fi manga series by Ryosuke Takeuchi that is the inspiration for the film Edge of Tomorrow.
I found this to be an okay read. This is in part because I had already seen the film so this a kind of 'been there done that' concept, even though this is what inspired the film and it is a good concept.
If you wanted a more R-rated version of Edge of Tomorrow, than the manga would work better for you. There is a lot more graphic imagery in the manga, and the direction the manga takes is more dismal than the movie (because Hollywood likes a nice ending).
If you haven't watched Edge of Tomorrow, I would say to maybe pick up the manga first as you might get more out of it without having not been exposed to the concept already. As I said, if you also want a more rated version, then the manga would work better for you.
