"Sixteen-year-old Nicholas Cox is an outsider to the competitive fencing world. Filled with raw talent but lacking proper training, he signs up for a competition that puts him head-to-head with fencing prodigy Seiji Katayama...and on the road to the elite all-boys school Kings Row. A chance at a real team and a place to belong awaits him—if he can make the cut!"
Fence is a graphic novel series written by C.S. Pacat and drawn by Johanna the Mad.
If you like fencing, well, look no further than here. As someone who isn't particularly interested in fencing and doesn't know much about it either, my expectations for this were pretty much mid-level.
I couldn't really give this series higher than a okay rating because it is rather short and feels very much so like an introduction. You can really feel the tension between the two main characters, but because these volumes only cover so much, you are left with unresolved tension. It does show a lot of promise, though I think that the newest issue was done by someone else, so I don't know how similar or different it is.
