Kingdom of Ash

Updated: Jul 13, 2021

Rating - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

"Aelin Galathynius has vowed to save her people ― but at a tremendous cost. Locked within an iron coffin by the Queen of the Fae, Aelin must draw upon her fiery will as she endures months of torture. The knowledge that yielding to Maeve will doom those she loves keeps her from breaking, but her resolve is unraveling with each passing day…

With Aelin captured, friends and allies are scattered to different fates. Some bonds will grow even deeper, while others will be severed forever. As destinies weave together at last, all must fight if Erilea is to have any hope of salvation."

Kingdom of Ash is the seventh and final installment in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas.

We have finally arrived at the end of the journey with this behemoth of a book. It was a long time coming for this book, and while I still enjoyed the book, this was my least favourite one out of the series.

Overall the book was more or less just one long battle, which wasn't the most exciting thing ever. Everything wrapped up too nicely and conveniently and with very little fall out. I also would have liked for some characters to have more of a part in the story (I'm talking about you Rolfe even though I think you get a prequel). Like Vaughan who was only mentioned running around somewhere but never showed up once for some reason.

The ending made me sentimental though. I loved the little bit where Aelin walked with all the other women. It was also nice to see everyone go home at the end of it.

Although I didn't give any book in this series a 5 star, I still loved this series so much. I will also forever stand by the fact that Chaol and Dorian should have ended up together even though Manon and Yrene had important roles in the story.
