The Olympic Games Readathon is a month-long readathon in July that is based around the Percy Jackson series. It is co-hosted by booktubers Ishi Time, Nicole & Her Books, the wild Sasha, and The Nature of Pages.
This is the second year this readathon has been hosted and I participated last year as well. What made me want to join this readathon was how well crafted it is. You can really tell that the creators spent a lot of time and effort on making this.
The point of the readathon is to pick a team you want to join which are based on the Greek Gods and Goddesses. Once you have picked your team, there are five mandatory prompts you must follow, as well as bonus ones if you finish all of your prompts. Last year I was on Team Athena, but I was surprised to see that I fell under Team Artemis, the goddess of the hunt.
Without further ado, here are all the prompts for Team Artemis as well as the books I will be reading for them! If you want to check out my reviews of them, click on the pink hyperlinks.
READ A BOOK WITH A GREEN COVER
Turns out I have already read pretty much every book with a green cover on my TBR, so for this one we are going to go with a book that is green-ish.
I wish I picked a more greener book as I didn't really like this book...
READ A BOOK THAT TAKES PLACE IN THE WILDERNESS
So, I was planning on reading Near the Bone, but I couldn't get past how terrible the husband was and decided to pick this up instead. I had no idea this was in my TBR, but I rather enjoyed it.
READ A BOOK WHILE THE MOON IS UP ✔
In Another Light
It only feels fitting to read a mystery thriller while the moon is out. Luckily for me, while I didn't feel very thrilled, this turned out to be an okay book.
READ A BOOK WITH MULTIPLE STRONG, INDEPENDENT, FEMALE MAIN CHARACTERS ✔
The first novel in The Wheel of Time series boasts several strong female protagonists in the making. Egwene, Moiraine, and Nynaeve all have prominent roles in the series. While I would have wished that I could have ignored the issues that many people have with the way they were written, they were pretty obvious. Nonetheless, you can't deny that they didn't have a strong presence in the book.
READ A BOOK THAT FEATURES SIBLINGS ✔
A Dragonbird in the Fern
Jiara must find the assassin who killed her sister and save her from becoming a vengeful spirit. One of the siblings may be dead, but they are a present character so it still counts in my books.
SWORD AND SHIELD:
A BOOK FEATURING A CHARACTER WHOM YOU WOULD NOT GET ALONG WITH
To say that I wouldn't get along with some of the characters in this is an understatement considering the things that happen in this book...
PEGASUS RIDING:
A BOOK PUBLISHED WITHIN THE LAST 5 YEARS
In the Watchful City
Considering the fact that this novella isn't even out yet, it definitely counts as being published within the last five years.
MONSTER FIGHTING:
A BOOK FEATURING MAGICAL CREATURES
This book partially takes place in a magical land called Fillory, so there are bound to be a variety of magical creatures in here.
So how did this readathon turn out for me? I didn't manage to get through all of the advanced prompts but at least I read a good amount of books and finished all the mandatory prompts. In terms of the quality of the books, I had some good ones and some not so good ones. It is what it is though as not all books are going to work for me.
