The Adventure Book Tag

We are back at it again with another round of 🙌Tag Time🙌. This time around we have the 'adventure book tag' which is a bit of an allrounder tag where I talk about settings and characters I like in books.

I found this book tag on Literary Weaponry , but I don't know who the original creator is so all credit goes to whomever they are.

Here we go!

WHICH CHARACTER WOULD YOU WANT TO GO ON AN ADVENTURE WITH?

I had to really think about this one because there are so many characters that go on adventures, but they tend to be on the more dangerous side. To veer a bit off of the trail, I would say Nathan Drake or Lara Croft even though they are technically video game characters and not book characters. Uncharted is probably my favourite video game series as it is right up my alley as I am someone who loves history and lost civilizations.

When it comes to books I would probably go with someone of that equivalence, and the only name I can think of is Cotton Malone because I just started to read that series by Steve Berry. Robert Langdon would of course work as well even though symbology is a bit out of my area of expertise.

Or, I would also pick Howl from Howl's Moving Castle, because it's Howl...and I love Studio Ghibli.

IF YOU COULD BE ANY CHARACTER FOR A DAY, WHO WOULD YOU BE?

I think I would like to be Charmy from Black Clover. Her abilities allow her to summon sheep that cook her food to gain mana. So, she basically spends every moment just eating good food without any repercussions and that sounds fantastic. She is also a strangely powerful character, and I love me some overpowered characters.

WHAT BOOK IS ON YOUR TBR BUCKET LIST?

I am someone who prefers not to spend money on books (because student debt is real), so I utilize my library, but of course libraries don't always have everything you are looking for. There is one book I really want to read but I can't find it on any of my libraries, and that is From the Dark We Came by J. Emery.

WHAT BOOK HAS A CONTEMPORARY SETTING YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO TO?

There are so many possibilities but, as I said in the first question, pretty much any historical or archaeological mystery novel works for me. Being able to go to all the historical sights that I learned about in class would be a dream.

WHICH BOOK HAS A FANTASY SETTING YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO TO?

A lot of fantasy worlds aren't exactly places you would like to visit, which makes it a bit hard to choose one. A classic answer would be Narnia (once you take out all the religious contexts), but I am going to go with the world of Sorcery of Thorns, because a magical library is a peak setting for me.

NAME A CHARACTER WHO IS VERY ADVENTUROUS AND DARING

For me this question is a bit complicated as what many people may think of as daring would just be impulsive and reckless to me. I could answer any Shonen manga character ever, but I think I'm going to go with Spensa from Skyward. Even though I had issues with her character, she really went for it and was really determined.

NAME THE WEIRDEST PLACE YOU'VE READ A BOOK

I usually read in bed or sitting on the couch, so I haven't really read a book in a weird place. Instead, I am going to talk about the most adventurous place I've read a book.

Two summers ago I went on a road trip of the East Coast of Canada with my parents, and I was listening to an audiobook completely unaware as we drove through what was known as Wreckhouse in Newfoundland. It is known for its extremely high winds, so high to the point where there are warning signs for truck drivers not to go through it because it will topple over their truck. I had my head down the entire time we were driving not realizing until afterwards what we just drove through when my dad said that he'd never held on so hard to steering wheel in his life.

If you're trying to get to Port aux Basques, maybe take a different route if you don't want to risk vehicle damage. I would show you a picture because I took some pretty good shots but the files are too big...
