"Love speaks in flowers. Truth requires thorns.
Travel to a world of dark bargains struck by moonlight, of haunted towns and hungry woods, of talking beasts and gingerbread golems, where a young mermaid's voice can summon deadly storms and where a river might do a lovestruck boy's bidding but only for a terrible price."
The Language of Thorns is a collection of short stories in the Grishaverse by Leigh Bardugo.
This was just very meh for me. While nothing was glaringly bad about this, I just didn't see the point in this.
While the author does nail the format of the fairy tales, I felt like this didn't really add anything to the universe. If this was to show that the Grisha had fairy tales, I think it would have been better to make entirely original ones rather than retell classic ones.
Will say though that the last story was a nice switch up.
