"This is the way the world ends... for the last time.
The season of endings grows darker as civilization fades into the long cold night. Alabaster Tenring – madman, world-crusher, savior – has returned with a mission: to train his successor, Essun, and thus seal the fate of the Stillness forever.
It continues with a lost daughter, found by the enemy.
It continues with the obelisks, and an ancient mystery converging on answers at last.
The Stillness is the wall which stands against the flow of tradition, the spark of hope long buried under the thickening ashfall. And it will not be broken."
The Obelisk Gate is the 2nd installment in The Broken Earth trilogy by N.K. Jemisin.
Compared to the first book, this one worked a lot better for me and I honestly don't even know why. I just really liked the underground setting and really liked Hoa. I would have loved to see more of him in this because he is the most interesting character. I also thought that the plot was more cohesive in this book.
The only thing I could have done without, however, was Nassun's POV. I did not care about her at all and didn't really think she added much to the story.
